Your disk is your business
DiskSpace measures your folders and writes the results to a file on your own PC. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing is sent to us.
No account, ever
No sign-up, no login, no password. We hold no database of DiskSpace users because none exists.
Nothing leaves your PC
Folder names, file names and sizes stay in a database inside your own Windows profile. We could not look at them if we wanted to.
Silent unless you say otherwise
The app's only network call is a licence check, and only if you bought by card. Anonymous statistics are opt-in, and nothing we receive can carry a path, file name or size.

01 What DiskSpace stores, and where
DiskSpace keeps one database file inside your own Windows user profile. It contains folder paths on the drives you chose to watch, their size and file count at each measurement, the names and sizes of the largest files found, free space per drive, your settings, and diagnostic logs.
All of it stays on your PC. You can delete it at any time from Settings, or by uninstalling the app.
02 What we never receive
Everything in section 1. We do not upload, sync, back up or mirror your filesystem information, and we never read the contents of your files — only how much space they take.
There is no account system and no password. If you buy by card we hold the email address from your receipt, because that is what your licence is attached to — see section 3.
03 Purchases and licensing
We never see your card details or billing address on either route. What differs is who checks your licence.
Microsoft Store. Payment is handled entirely by Microsoft. To know whether you own Premium, the app asks Windows about your Store licence. Windows performs that check under Microsoft's own privacy policy, and the answer is cached locally so the app works offline. We receive nothing at all.
Card purchase via polar.sh. Polar is the merchant of record and handles the checkout. Polar tells us the email address on the purchase, and we store it because it is what your licence is attached to. When you activate, and roughly once a day afterwards, the app contacts our licence service and sends: your licence token, a random identifier generated for that PC, the PC's name as Windows shows it, and the app version.
That exchange never carries information about your disks. No paths, no file names, no sizes — our server validates every field against a fixed list and rejects anything else outright, so this is enforced rather than promised.
You can release a PC at any time from Premium → Release this PC, and you can ask us to delete your licence record by emailing support; a refund does the same thing automatically.
04 Optional anonymous statistics
Off unless you turn it on in Settings, and you can turn it back off at any time. If enabled, the app sends at most one short message per day containing only:

If the app crashes it may also send the exception type, which component failed, and a one-way fingerprint that groups identical crashes.
It can never contain file names, folder names, paths, disk sizes, or anything identifying you or your PC. Our server rejects any message that does not match this exact list, so even a modified copy of the app could not send us more.
05 Diagnostics and support
Logs are written to a file on your PC and stay there. Nothing is sent automatically.
If you email support you may choose to attach a diagnostics bundle. The app shows you what it contains first, and sending is entirely your decision.
06 Security
The database and logs live inside your Windows user profile, protected by your account's permissions. If you use BitLocker or device encryption they are encrypted at rest along with the rest of the drive. Your Premium status is cached in a blob protected by the Windows Data Protection API.
If you enable anonymous statistics, they travel over HTTPS and each message is cryptographically signed. The app never requests administrator rights.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but since nothing about your files ever leaves your PC, there is very little to secure in the first place.
07 This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies and embeds no third-party fonts, scripts, trackers or advertising. We do not build visitor profiles.
08 Your rights, children, and changes
Your rights. Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. The answer is that we hold nothing: there is no user database. The DiskSpace data that exists about you is the file on your own PC, entirely under your control. If you enabled statistics you can withdraw that consent in Settings at any time, and you may complain to your local data-protection authority — though we would rather you emailed us first.
Children. DiskSpace is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes. If this policy changes materially — in particular if any data ever starts leaving your PC — we will update this page and change the date above before that version ships.
